Stupidity will out.

 Let’s you and I have a talk shall we? See, I’ve noticed something lately and I need your help. See, something is wrong with us and by us I mean U.S. us...

I don’t know when I started this, I mean I could look back and find out but it really doesn’t matter so much.

We have so much stupidity in this country we should just export it and we’d get rid of any trade deficit we have but amazingly enough it doesn’t appear as if stupidity is in such short supply the world over.

The thing I’ve got to give our species credit for more than anything else is that we simply continue to find ways to be stupid! It’s really amazing when you get right down to it, you would think there was a team of the most top notch scientists on the planet working on this but we really just manage to come up with it all on our own.

We find amazing new ways to hate each other. We just fall all over ourselves doing it to and mainly BECAUSE... WE... KNOW... WE’RE... RIGHT!

I acknowledge my own stupidity, that’s something I have in abundance. I don’t know if I have more or less than the average person but it’s there in spades to be sure. I’d like to think that acknowledging one’s own stupidity is the first step on the path to enlightenment but the older I get I just get I think it’s only another step on the path to more stupid.

I watch Judge Judy. I really like Judge Judy too because it’s one of those shows where you can’t help but feel better about yourself because you’re not on it. COPs was like that too. Judge Judy always uses a quote by Epictetus and I try to keep reminding myself of it as I move through the day because that quote will keep me from venturing to far down the road to stupid if I just apply it in my daily life:

“We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.”

This quote is attributed to Epictetus, a Greek philosopher who spent his youth as a slave in Rome before gaining freedom after the death of Nero, under whom he served until around 60 AD.
